Family Portraits

For Mother’s Day this year I was asked what I wanted, my response was simple…new pictures!  The last ones we had made were two years old and well….my kids are two years older!

I had the perfect photographer in mind.  Her name is Jilli Worth and she just started her photography business Mia Bella Photography.  I got to know Jilli for a few years ago while we partook in a Beth Moore Bible study together.  She has to be one of the sweetest most genuine people I know.  Caring, compassionate and a love for Jesus that just compels you.  We have served in our church together and sat in a few more Bible studies soaking up God’s word.  Besides being such a spectacular person Jilli is a fabulous, affordable photographer.  Her eye-catching portraits are breath-taking and what she calls “artful candid portraiture”.  She delights to pair each family to different landscapes to fit their personalities.  What I’m saying is Jilli Worth/Mia Bella Photography is a gem and you all would be crazy not to use her!  Hey if she could survive the Reds and Sissy Lou and still get great photos then you know she’s good!

Jilli is generously offering a $25.00 print credit to anyone who wants to book a session and mentions “the sarge” to her.  ~How Awesome!~

My only problem so far is that ALL the pictures are so good that I don’t know how to pick!  *OH MY!*

Here’s a quick look at some of my favorites:and my favorite photo of the day…the one that sums us up the most:Let’s not forget the blooper reel….it’s what makes the Sarge of 4….well the Sarge of 4!

If you are in the Louisville/Evansville area and in need of some great photos check Mia Bella out by clicking below:

or emailing Jilli at jilli@miabphotography.com

and don’t forget to mention “the sarge” to get the $25 credit for your prints!

Thank you Mia Bella Photography!!!!!

Force Choke

Okay, I know I’ve been a slacker this week!  I have only written once….this whole week.  Not because there’s nothing to write about…but no time to write! Too many kids and too many puppies!   Now I have lots to catch up on.  Let’s start with the “force choke”.

I’m sure if you have boys that the force is with your family!  Star Wars always seems to make an impact on any family with boys in one way or another. Light sabers, legos, figurines, and masks…all have made appearances in ours.

I love that commercial about the little boy dressed up like Darth Vader.  It seriously cracks me up.  He goes around using the “force” to do things like clean his room, etc…  At the end it shows the little boy using the “force” on the family car.  All of a sudden the car cranks, the boys freaks looking at his hands in amazement and the camera turns to the dad who is inside using the automatic start on the car keys.  HA!

Eli really wishes that the force would be with him.  This past week he discovered a new part of the force…the ”force choke”.  This is where he uses the force to choke out Sissy Lou.  No need to fret….Sissy Lou used it right back!   ;-)  Oh and yes….Sissy Lou wears a different Gymnastics outfit everyday!  It’s become her signature!I just love how they both played along!Jesse got in on the fun and was hoping the force was with him also….but it wasn’t, although he does look a bit scary in this photo…almost like a Sith {shiver} ;-) In the end Eli resorted to his trusty light saber to do his dirty work. Yep, I think it worked, if the tongue is out then she must be a goner!for a second anyway, can’t keep a good Jedi down!I wonder if the force will be with me while I clean this house?  Boy, that sure would be nice!

Stay tuned…Monday I will be unveiling our new family photos taken by the wonderful, talented, super awesome Mia Bella Photography! I did use the force on the Reds to get some pictures out of them!  The force…..ice cream, same thing!

Eli’s Logic

Puppies are cute!Puppies are precious!!Puppies have really sharp teeth!!!Puppies chew EVERYTHING with those sharp teeth!!!!Puppies are messy….very messy!!!!!Puppies are LOUD, especially NINE of them!!!!!!

Last week, while chatting with Eli’s teacher, she shared a quick little story with me about Eli’s logic!  She said while she was working with him on developing a topic to write about he chose “puppies”.  She innocently asked “so Eli, how many puppies are you going to keep”.  To which he replied: “well….all of them”.  “All nine of them?” his teacher asked.  “Yes….all nine”.  Here was his reason:
“We have to keep all of the squeakers (this is what he refers to the puppies as).  Because they are toooooo loud.  If we don’t keep them all, then when the people come to take the puppies home the puppies will start squeaking really LOUD in the car and make the people wreck and then everyone will die…so we have to keep them…to keep everyone safe”.   HA! :-D

I think he’s going to miss them

I’m Running a 5K *oh my*!

I’m not much of a runner.

It hurts…..

my lungs, my legs, my body, and I’m a wimp!

However,  my friend has talked me into a 5K….and I agreed.

I think it may have been a temporary lapse in judgement, but I agreed, and she signed us up.  Not just for one race….but two!  *YIKES*

I figured out a plan though to keep myself motivated.  Because I need motivation!

My plan is to buy running accessories, mostly because it makes me happy!

Every week I’ve bought something to keep things moving along.  Here’s what I have so far:New outfits, new running shoes, running head band (which could be the greatest thing on earth), running apps, running ear buds, arm band for my iPhone and a hat.

The problem is, I’m running out of things to keep it interesting! There are only so many accessories that you can run with!

My last resort is to write about the 5K so now I am held accountable by you all.  Now there is no backing out.

So on May 19th I’m heading to Lexington, KY for my first 5K….and I just might die…but at least I will have my accessories!

Go Rangers!

Saturday was the Red’s first baseball game.  Coach Jesse was so excited to kick off this season.  About an hour before the game we started dressing the Reds in their uniforms.  Since moving up a rank to rookie machine pitch something new is required…..a cup.  This piece of equipment is vital to keep baseball players from any…..injuries of such.  This would be Lil’ Reds first time with this new uniform adventure.

After we dressed them, Eli couldn’t get over this new-found trinket.  He thought it was hysterical that he could hit himself there and not feel anything.  Soooooo…..we thought it best to have a sit down before we left to discuss the do’s and don’t of wearing a cup.

Do’s:  A “must” layer to wear under your uniform to protect your privates.

Don’ts:   do not show, hit or draw attention to your cup!

We kept it pretty simple.  When we arrived the team hit the field for warm ups and then it was game time!  In rookie machine pitch the kids are still pretty new to the ins and outs of baseball.  They don’t seem to run the bases backwards as they did in t-ball but they are still pretty green.  Coach Jesse placed them around the field in positions.  Since Andrew is the oldest and most experienced (2 yrs in rookie) Coach thought he would do best at 1st base…..with no instructions.  Andrew has never played 1st base before and I thought to myself, “well, this could be a good thing.  All the balls will be thrown to him every time and maybe this will help him to pay attention”.  Paying attention is rather hard for Andrew at times.  Last year in Rookie he spent most of his time playing in the dirt in the outfield.

The first ball was hit and thrown to 1st base to make the out.  Here it was…the first moments of the game, and Andrew was:NOT paying attention.  HA!  The coach quickly came over and explained to Andrew how 1st base actually works….that every ball will be thrown to him!  After that, he seemed to get it and did pretty well! You can see just past Andrew, Eli is standing on 2nd base.  Eli took it upon himself to have the title of “Heckler”!  He spent most of his time taunting the players that made it to second base.  Saying things like “we’re gonna beat you bad guys”! Or screaming to the batters “you can’t hit the ball”. Coach realized what his son player was doing and made his way over to keep an eye on things.  After his Dad/buzz kill was close, Eli settled down.  Since his tongue had been caught, he took to a new interest…..HIS CUP!!!!  I guess our little sit down didn’t go so well after all.  The boy couldn’t keep his hands off of it, hitting it, and tapping it.  I was in a tough spot, should I yell out to him and draw attention or pretend like I didn’t see anything?!  I decided with the latter.  ;-) Finally the inning was over and the team was off the field! WHEW!

The Reds both batted pretty well and Andrew even slid into homeplate once (by hitting his knees and slumping over almost like he tripped). The next inning the team was switched up and things went a little more smoothly.  They were all getting the hang of things!

The Rangers had a great first game and Sissy Lou kept herself entertained by playing in the mud!All I can really say to wrap this story up is….should be an interesting season!
